What did you gap them to? .035 is what they're supposed to be set at. Are you absolutely 100% sure you got the right Champion Truck plug??? Jerry -- Jerry Bransford KC6TAY, PP-ASEL See the Geezer Jeep at http://members.cox.net/jerrypb/ "Eric" <gymrat (AT) cox (DOT) net> wrote in message news:LLGWa.205558$o86.132823 (AT) news1 (DOT) central.cox.net... As I stated in another post, I've just installed new plugs. I bought the Champion Truck plugs based on recommendations on this group and others. Now, however, I seem to get a lot of knocking when I don't give it quite enough gas coming off a dead stop. Usually this is most noticeable when I'm stopped on a hill. I didn't have this problem with the old plugs. Any thoughts? I always run 87 octane gas, if that makes a difference. 99 TJ SE TB Swap Other goodies.. |

All I know is I asked the guy at the parts counter for the champion truck plug and he gave it to me. What was I supposed to get? And I did gap them to .035. At least that's what the little feeler guage said! Eric "Jerry Bransford" <jerrypb (AT) cox (DOT) net> wrote in message news:KRGWa.394$2g.126 (AT) fed1read05 (DOT) .. Eric, I would grab one of the boxes the plug came in and call a different auto parts store for what model number Champion Truck plug they say is correct for your Jeep and compare that to the part number on the box in your hand. I used to run Truck plugs but I don't remember the model number or I'd give it to you. Hey, it wouldn't be the first or last time an auto parts store guy gave someone the wrong parts. Anything else changed besides the plugs? In article <KRGWa.394$2g.126@fed1read05>, Jerry Bransford top posted and <jerrypb (AT) cox (DOT) net> wrote: What did you gap them to? .035 is what they're supposed to be set at. Are you absolutely 100% sure you got the right Champion Truck plug??? I recently replaced my plugs but did not opt for the truck plug. I would like to know what the difference is between the Champion RC12LYC and the truck plug. The RC12LYCs came pre-gapped .035". I don't have any knocking issues, 4.0L w/ 189600 miles. snip |

Hi Eric, Pull a plug to read it, make sure it's a light tan, rather than what I think it's white hot and much hotter than the regular very cold twelve nomenclature, if so it could melt holes in your pistons. Always figure noise equals damage. God Bless America, ßill O|||||||O mailto:LWHughes3rd (AT) aol (DOT) com http://www.billhughes.com/ Eric wrote: I'll call tomorrow. Nothing else changed, though. |

I haven't even put 50 miles on these plugs. Would the color be there already? I called a different parts store today and the part number is good to go. Eric "L.W. Eric, how about the wiring to the plugs? Could one be not pushed onto the plug or into the distributor cap all the way? -- Jerry Bransford KC6TAY, PP-ASEL See the Geezer Jeep at http://members.cox.net/jerrypb/ "Eric" <gymrat (AT) cox (DOT) net> wrote in message news:dXSWa.215425$o86.131986 (AT) news1 (DOT) central.cox.net...
