After going wheeling a month ago my transmission has started acting bad. I have always had a little hard time getting into first gear, had to push hard, but no grinding. Now it seems that most of the time I cannot get it in 1st or 2nd gear with the motor running. If I put it in 3rd and get it to roll a little then I can get in 1st. It does not grind, it just feels like something is hitting. I have used ATF in the tranny since I bought it last fall because that is what the previous owner had in there, but I know some people(Mike) say to use gear lube. Should I try gear lube instead? Is there an easy way to inspect the internals with out taking the tranny out, i.e can I see much by taking the top of the tranny? Could it be clutch related? (but I think that would effect all gears) What else should I check? -- |
