Hello all.

The lighting in my '96 ZJ is flickering a bit - not on and off, just
flickering in intensity. This includes all instrumentation, interior
lights, and headlights. It's relatively hard to see unless to look,
but it's definite.

If the engine is *not* running, problem disappears.

My guess is that at 130k miles, it's time for an alternator.

Thoughts?
Slipping belt, bad regulator, bad battery, corroded or loose connectors,
or the alternator.

I'd try the cheap things first. Clean the battery terminals and check
the battery fluid.

Buy and install an oil, ammeter set like everyone has that want to
know what the machine is doing. Probably a stator short.

I'd tend to rule out my battery - as I said, if the engine is not
running, the flickering disappears. BTW, the battery is a Red Top. So
I guess I'm thinking it's alternator/regulator oriented.
