I have an 88 yj, with the carter 2 barrel, the carb is getting a little worn. The conversion is listed on ebay. I am wondering if this is a good conversion. Thanks for any input. Mike if you see this I would sure respect your opinion Matt |

Mike if you see this I would sure respect your opinion Matt I will agree with the other poster, the BBD can be made to behave. A carb kit is easy to put in and runs in the twenty buck range. To swap out for the Weber, you still need to get the computer out of the loop because it goes into limp home mode so I would recommend the Nutter bypass first with a carb kit and the idle tube clean and ream. http://www.off-road.com/jeep/jnutter1.htm http://jeep.off-road.com/jeep/articl....jsp?id=277064 If you go that route, there are a couple tweaks on the 'nutter' I use. I use two new wires rather than mess inside the harness, especially on a YJ which has different color codes than a CJ. I also set the stepper pins in the center of their travel for the high speed mix, not full rich like the Nutter directions say. That only allows a good idle mix setting with crap for mileage and top end. My way gets in the 20 mpg range highway. I stayed with the stock ignition also, I just went with a hot Accel 'SuperCoil'. Sometimes is is to just go all new though.... Mike 86/00 CJ7 Laredo, 33x9.5 BFG Muds, 'glass nose to tail in '00 88 Cherokee 235 BFG AT's Canadian Off Road Trips Photos: Non members can still view! I put a 38 DGAS (syncronous) on a friend's rig after the stock unit melted in a fuel line fire. Runs great, after adding the off-road kit. The air filter supplied is too small for off-road use, I built a base for a larger one. -- Stupendous Man, Defender of Freedom, Advocate of Liberty |
