I think it is a matter of attitude and perception. My brand new ES350 is doing fine. So does my older GS430 and RX300. If people want to complain and not be content about something, there is always something wrong with anything on earth! I enjoy my cars, and treat them as top of the line and first class cars... and that is just what matters. Look around at the Consumer Reports and JD Power.... They proved that Lexus is on top of anything else in the market. The majority of consumers are happy and willing to get more of them. Even if their line drops to the Toyota's level... they are still better than the other rivals. We just have to content on what these cars perform and compare against other inferior luxury imports and domestic junks. On the other hand, people who have a grudge against this brand... perhaps they should go and get the other brands and be happy about it. Otherwise, nothing will satisfy their mind. Or... perhaps build their own car! Mind you, like anything else in life, it is lonely at the top. The rivals want to topple the position (at any costs!), and there is only one way to go... downhill!. I selected Lexus as my brand choice and I never regret, and will likely never change. as far as I know, it is the best in my mind. Kudos to aniramca! I just bought a beautiful CPO 05 ES330 and love it. Have driven the hsck out of it trying to reproduce the so called tranny issues to no avail. The car is a "throttle by wire" acceleration so it WILL behave slight differently than a standatd throttle acceleration. Prior to purchasing this car i looked at the newsgroups. Lexus has sold hundreds of thousands of ES300's, 330's and with a few hundred people complaining about tranny issues I went for my new Lexus and love it. I have found a wealth of information on many newsgroups however, I find that people with gripes post much more frequently than those with compliments ar rave reviews. Just IMHO of course... And I'll bet you got the 05 at a bargain price too. They're not holding up too well on the resale market, confirmed last time I did a kbb and edmunds valuation of my 2002 ES300. Matthew, I too have an 05 ES330 which I bought new. Unlike you, I wouldn't say I love it. I do have the tranny issue if you're speaking of the hesitation and/or lurch. The service rep at the dealership told me to drive it for several thousand miles and it should get better since the electronic tranmission adjusts to the owner's driving style. Well, I did that and it did get better, but, frankly, I don't know if if the car adjusted to me or I adjusted to the car. It wasn't perfect, so I brought it back to the dealer for the installation of the transmission software update. They checked the car and told me it already had the update and there was nothing wrong with the car. I told them it still jerks sometimes, but not as much. We then went for a test drive, and, wouldn't you know it, it didn't jerk. Frankly, the reason I bought a Lexus was so that I wouldn't have these kind of problems. Also, after finding out what the dealer charges for maintenance service, I am thinking of going elsewhere. I don't like paying $140 for an oil change, rotation, and routine inspection. And at some points, like 15,000 miles and 30,000, they really sock it to you. I believe I may have been better off buying a well eqipped, 6 cyl., Camry. exactly the line of thought I have gone through. When me and best friend Russell went out looking for young boys, we found the whole car to be an embarassing difficulty. |
