Default Interesting Lexus Article - 05-16-2007 , 03:34 AM

The shortcut below is an English Newspaper article re: Lexus. Not only does
it make an interesting read, but I'd be interested to hear your comments
reference the prices we have to pay for cars in the UK, compared to where
you live. (The prices are at the bottom of the article).

For any of you not living in England, I point out that 'Green' cars here are
very important (not just from an environmental perspective) but also due to
the fact if you have a car supplied here by your employer, (and 75-85% of
management here do) depending upon the make and its emissions, the tax
authorities take the list price of the car, divide this by 3 (i.e.: say
£60,000 / 3 = £20,000) and class the £20,000 figure as earned income and
charge you 40% income tax on that! In addition, Lead Free fuel here is now a
few pennies short of £5.00 per gallon!

Wow - I don't know where you buy your petrol but I pay around 95 pence per
litre, which works out at £4.32 a gallon. However, we should explain for
those on the other side of the Atlantic that a UK gallon is a bit bigger
than a US gallon so on a "like for like" basis we pay around $7.50 for a US
gallon.
