OK..here's a question maybe Ray O can help

We just got a used 94 GS300 for our daughter. It's in great shape and
the timing belt was just replaced. Runs strong. It's a 1st gen GS
and I've heard they're highly sought after.

Anyway, the car is fine but the head unit only has AM/FM/TAPE. She
wants a CD player. Instead of bastarding the console, I thought I
would buy a used head unit with the CD option and then buy the CD
unit for the trunk. Everything is the Pioneer system, not the
Nakamichi.

Is this do-able? To me, I *think* this is a straight swap out:

Remove old head unit from console, put in new head unit with CD

Run wiring harness (probably get from Crutchfield?) from back of
head unit to trunk.

Mount CD unit in trunk. (is it powered off the wiring harness?)

The existing wires should work for the CD optioned head unit correct?

I assume the existing amp wouldn't need to be swapped out.

Am I missing something?

don't know how that would work. Just buy a cd changer, put it in the
trunk and somehow wire it to the existing system? How would I access
the CD's to play them? Maybe I need to go over to their site and see

I've seen aftermarket CD changers that include a small wired remote about
the size of an i-Pod Nano that you stick on the dash.
