Default 87 300D pump issue - 09-16-2009 , 07:36 PM

Per this pic, I think the part is called the primary injector pump.
That right-angle vacuum connector split on the back. So I put a
little clamp on it. No go.
I'm still having to manually stop the engine every time I park.
But the Benz dealer does not have the part, and cannot even locate a
part number for it.
Frustring.

If you don't mind russian language... could try to find the p.n.
(description is in cyrillic... :-) ) here:
http://www.detali.ru/cat/cats/?cat=mb
Use the first 6 digits of chassis number to find out exact version.
If you're lucky enough, you might find an english language
description... good luck.

Some possibilities:

You could try Rusty Mercedes Benz parts which you can find with
google. He has been helpful to a lot of people here obtaining parts.

Could try another dealer who might be better able to identify it. Or
a local independent shop that does lots of MB diesel work.

Also, since it's kaput as is, I'd go ahead and remove it. Just a
piece of tape over the line should be good enough as it only gets
vacuum applied when you turn the car ignition key to off. With it
in hand, you would have a better chance of getting a dealer to see if
they have something similar that would work. And if it's not
totally shot, maybe you could use some appropriate glue (silicone) to
get some more time out of it

If I remember correctly, the part shown in the picture is the vacuum
transducer for the transmission. It does not control the engine kill.

The kill device (I forget the name) is on top of the injection pump,
just behind the injection lines (and roughly above this transducer). It
is a round cylinder, and a vacuum tube attached on the top. Its
replacement is not very difficult, though the location (and surrounding
plumbing) makes the work tricky.

This kill device has a hook at the bottom, connecting to a lever inside
the injection pump. When vacuum applies, the rod goes up and lifts the
lever, then the fuel flow stops to kill the engine. The manual kill
lever connects directly to this internal lever.

The tricky part of the replacement is to hook on the lever by feeling
(in that cramp space).

Well, the material is the same but it has a lip and is stuck inside
the casing.
So it's not just a piece of hose.

My #2 son works @ NAPA. He's going to look around for a rough
equivalent over the next few days.
