Remove the trunk pad on the floor, then grab the lower edge of the side
panel to pull it outward and then work along the edges of the panel until
you get loose to pull it out. It is not glued in.

Default Repair kit for C-class trunk hinge spring lever - 09-30-2009 , 01:55 PM

Just tried to but gave up. Buyed a hinge to replace the one with the
broken spring lever. But after removing the cover I didn'nt understand
how to remove the bearing. Seems to be a mystery how to get to it,
perhaps one has to remove the cover at the rear window.

Fortunately I stumbled over this standard problem with the broken spring
lever in the internet. There is a repair kit with part number

A 2027580214

containing two parts, security screws and bolts. With 40€ for both sides
its slightly more expensive then one hinge and the most expensive 50gr
of steel I have ever bought.

One only has two drill up two of the four holes at the hinge to 6mm.
With trunk half open its easy to fix the bolts holding the nut from the
back. One hour of work.
