210 2.4 v6 trouble codes and gearbox problem

ive got a e240 1998 and am having idle and pinking problems.i am in
the trade and had a coderead by a local ind merc garage(after
hours!)and it came up with :- p0170-022 self adapt of mixture
formation part load right bank and p0173-133 for left
bank.brilliant,but what is it?dunno he said!can anyone help?also after
cleaning the interior it doesnt pull off in 1st gear anymore.i know i
knoked the switch on the selector to winter,but it wont switch
back.there are no faults stored for the gearbox and there are no other
symptoms.help!

From the description, I would say it is probably the AFM need some cleaning.
