Default Help with 83 300D - 10-14-2009 , 10:59 AM

Hello all,

I have an 83 300D and I had an odd thing happen yesterday. 2 of my
rubber "O" rings, the ones that hold the muffler to the frame, broke
and fell off. I think there are a total of 4 and I must have lost
those one the road. Then the last 3/4 of the muffler fell from the
body. I can reattach everything, but I do not know the name of those
parts.

They are shaped like a circle-oval ring. The material is rubber and is
maybe a 1/2 inch thick.

Thanks for any leads...

For a 124/6 gasoline engine eg it is

1244920044 SUSPENSION RING REAR MUFFLER SUSPENSION

You can find them online where they sell foreign car parts under
exhaust system components. Also, I've seen and used generic ones
from auto parts stores. They have them where they have tailpipe
clamps, etc.

Ony problem is, with the crappy aftermarket mufflers, often the
brackets are not welded on precisely, nor do all the parts fit
exactly. And that can make trying to get those rubber rings on a
bitch, at least if you're doing it by yourself.
