1994 Mercedes Benz E320 V-6.
I had a bearing go out in the bracket that holds the aux. fan onto the engine.
I replaced the bracket and the pressed-in bearing.
Now to the problem.
How do I get the timing belt back on and adjusted?
The route is okay but the idler arm pulley does not seem to want to adjust.
There is an adjustment on the right side of he motor looking from the front.
This does not seem to want to do anything.
When turning the rod downwards it looks like it should move the pulley to allow the belt to slip onto it.
It appears there is a Torq head bolt with a material that tightens the piece that holds the pulley on.
Is there anything else that needs to loosen up before the pulley will move enough to allow the belt to slip on.
There is a bracket that the larger nut head on the adjustment rod fits into.
Does this larger head screw down into the hole on the bracket or does it stay up above the top of the bracket?

A Mercedes V6 engine in 1994? Non-existent... are you talking about
serpentine belt? Mercedes does not have timing belt for their engine... only
timing chain.

Yes, you must be talking about the so-called serpentine belt (pulling
everything).

It is tensioned by a spring loaded tensioner device. The pulley og the
tensioner device is the small one located between the fan, a/c
compressor and servo pump pulleys. The tensioning device itself is
fitted with a large allen bolt, which can be reached between the
tensioner pulley and the a/c compressor pulley.

Loosen the tensioner fixing bolt and and adjust the tension adjuster
nut (a tube with hexagon end, located between the water pump and the
servo reservoir) left until the tensioner is slackened enough to put
the belt on.

Turn the tensioner nut right until the the tensioner pointer aligns
with the marking on the tensioner device. Then tighten the tensioner
fixing bolt.

Be careful with the tension adjuster nut. The thread is easily damaged,
and must be replaced if so. It is not expensive, but is is not so easy
to replace.
