Just to advise, all the Mini bits I had went to the scrap this weekend
as no-one seemed interested.

Bit of a shame really as the Mk1 bits were as new still in the
manufacturers primer.

Having a bit of a clear out:

2 Mk1 mini doors left and right

1 Mk1 Boot lid complete with flip down numberplate

1 Mk 2 Boot lid as above

1 RC40 exhaust system and long centre branch manifold
never fitted, no clamps.

1 Pair Stomberg carbs on dual ally manifold (tatty )

I was going to put these on e-bay but thought would offer to group
first

Errrr, good o, thanks for the info.
I guess what you could have done is given them to your local mini club if
you were REALLY worried about binning them.

So why bother to tell us all that that is what you've done, when all you
said at the outset was that you'd offer them to the group before putting
them on e-bay.
You also did not say that the Mk I bits were brand new.

Many years ago I too was a real Mini enthusiast, (obviously long
before the BMW thingy), I have been out of the scene for over twenty
years so I have no idea of any local clubs in my area, and as we had
to clear our workshops rather quickly I didn't have time to search any
out.

To me they were worthless and just in the way so I would willingly
have given them to a deserving case for a couple of beer tokens, I'm
not into charging a fortune for stuff I no longer have a need for.

I specifically worded the advert in that way to try to get genuine
enquiries, but the net result was virtually zero, so I couldn't see
the point of placing an ad on e-bay when this group has the main
attention.

I also noted on another post that someone else was advertising a pair
of doors with a price attached, and they were basically knocked back
because the price was too cheap, I would have been quite happy to have
accepted £25 each, but its all academic now. Quite frankly I have no
idea what people are willing to pay for these things but it would seem
that many people have been ripped off for so long they treat any
genuine offer with contempt.

Good luck to you all, keep the real marque going.

John

This group is a pretty useless place to sell things. I advertised a running
& MOT'd Mk1 for £250 and got two enquiries.

Ebay or Miniworld classifieds would have been better

I've only just started using re-using this newsgroup too, so I missed
the original post...

This group probably has a total readership of no more than about 100,
spread far and wide around the world, and most of us already have more
Mini than we can store. (I'm an exception). It's really not likely to be
a good place for selling stuff. You'll get much better exposure in the
local paper or online car sales website.
