Which Fuel Filter?

Hi

I've been reading this ng for a little while and notice a lot of talk about
fuel filters. I was doing some work on the weekend on my 1975 1275GT and
noticed I didn't have an inline filter at all. Did they come with them?
(I'm the second owner). I thought there used to be one in the fuel line but
I can't find it now.

So, what's the best filter to use?

I'm in NZ.
