I think it is because they are unusual. Lets face it, when you drive a
pickup, one thing that it definately is is unusual.

I love sliding windows but there is one drawback. You can't put your arm
out of it. Having said that, you have an arm rest even when it is shut!!

Ah the little slidey windows. I guess if your Mini is a garage/trailer queen
conversation piece. My cars are all daily drivers including my Mini so it
has to offer modern day convenience.

I can just imagine myself sitting in SoCal traffic in middle of summer in a
sliding window, NOT.

This info is not the whole truth. In 1971 BMC made Mk 1 doors to fit Mk 1
bodies with the Clubman type handles as shown in IBMs photos. This is the only
year these door were made that have the recessed handles. Good luck finding any
though.

Are you speaking with authority about any particular country? What you

.....but this only applys to you if the hat fits...

Thanks Tim, trust me I am a well traveled Man and speak several languages as
well as dialects so I know what all the curse words are in most languages -
lol.

I have wanted a Mini since I was a tear eyed lad in Nigeria. I now have kids
of me own and have a little disposable income to allow me to buy me own
"toys".

We are in disagreements though, a true enthusiast though will allow hobbyist
no matter where they are from to share in the experience of the hobby. If
that means allowing others to take some of our natural resource (as long as
they are not stolen it) they it's all fair game. Using your analogy, then
Sir Ignosis should have limited the sales of Minis only to Britain then. And
we may have lost the opportunity to have the Innocentis, the best Minis IMHO
bar non even Cooper S can't touch the rarity, build quality, opulence of
those car's.

Tim, do you know that we have to pay close to $1,500 just in unrealized
expense of shipping to bring in even a rust bucket car? No one in US is
buying a Mini as a fleeting fancy I can assure you of that. In these days
where 0% interest plus cash back of up to $2,000 is the norm for buying a
new car only a true die hard will even consider buying a temperamental,
noisy, death trap, rust bucket we all love as the Mini.

I am not hear to convince you though or change your mind. But you remind me
of fells I have read about that have a farm filled with rotting Minis but
would never sell them because they are enthusiast and will never let them go
to the wrong hands - lol.

Have a nice day Tim and it's all in joke I know and hopefully you do too.

PS: I am into Minis as a hobby also. I have only one Mini right now, will
definitely have at least two or three by the end of the year and will help
out others who want to get Minis. After all my watchword is from enthusiast
to enthusiast - lol.

Excuse me? The pickup is a daily driver which in past years has done up to
22,000 miles (mainly motorway) a year.

The good thing about sliding windows is that if they are opened you don't go
deaf from the wind noise and you don't get blown about too much by the
buffeting of 70mph. If you open the front ones in spring you get cooler, if
you open the back ones in summer you get cool. My heater is permanently on
as well as you have to go under the bonnet to turn it off.

I never overheat, inside the car or unnder the bonnet.

Sorry Guys. The car as well as the rest of the pictures for the last road
trip of the Mini Owners Of America - Los Angeles Chapter (MOALA) is at
http://ibuyminis.us/moala/

That car is a roundnose Mini but we all know someone could have lobbed of a
Clubbie to make it.

What info is not the whole truth? You cut everything, leaving us with no
idea of what you are referring to.

In 1971 BMC made Mk 1 doors to fit Mk 1 bodies with the Clubman type
handles as shown in IBMs photos.

The lift up door handle design was introduced along with various other
"Clubman" features such as the 1098 motor, negative earth, alternators
and a 4 synchro box over the (short) life of the Mini K from 1969 to
1971.

This is the only year these door were made that have the recessed
handles. Good luck finding any though.

The doors for a Mini K with lift handles are identical to the doors
fitted to an Aussie Clubman. Can you tell from the photograph at:
http://ibuyminis.us/IBM%20Images/IM002064.jpg> whether that car is a
Clubman or a Mini K? The front panels are not visible...

All Australian Clubman bodies are Mk1 bodies - they all have external
hinges, the small rear window, etc. These lift handle doors with quarter
vent windows are probably the easiest Mini doors to find in Australia!

From what you say, apparently not.

Fast enough to do 22000 in a year ;-) 70mph

In SoCal most
freeways are parking lots. Yes of course there are many slidey windows in
SoCal.
