Hi

Apparently I need new strut knuckles in the front. Is this a hard job to
do? Are there any tricks? I'm sure I can get the parts, I'm not sure I
can
install them properly.

Cheers

Hi Dan,

You'll need the special tool called "cone compressor"

All you need is a haynes manual and the correct rubber cone compressor tool.
Forget about even pondering considering thinking about the job if you
haven't got the tool.

The rubber boots on the old ones got damaged and now the knuckles are
wearing their way into the arms?
Sounds about right, squeeks like a really squeaky thing.

Not really. Getting the top suspension arm out can be a tricky job. The
main trick is that....
Hmmm, I think I can handle that...

Are there any tricks?

... you need a cone compressing tool, which is unique to Minis. And you
need one with the right thread to fit your donuts, since some are
imperial and some are metric...
Right, I'll check that one...

... unless of course it's a hydro Mini, in which case you need a hydro
pump.
Nope, cones...

Traps:
Wrong thread for your donuts on the compressor tool. Make sure you've
got it right.

Getting the pivot shaft out of the top arm.

Damaged top arm, hole for knuckle ground deeper, causes drroped front
suspension.
Yep, that sounds right...

Anyone else got any more traps?
Thanks to everyone for the reply's. Much Appreciated.
