I would start with a repair manual, either from a library, car booty, or mail order, if you know V8 engines, then you are 80% there, afterall its half a V8 with a load of gears in the bottom, although "A" series engines are very basic and easy to work on, there are a few little tricky bits that are highlighted in the manuals, along with some good tips, HTH Fitzy |

I want a basically standard engine but since the exhaust and intake manifold, the carburetter and fuel pump are missing, I thought I might give it a little tweek like polishing the ports and fitting hardened valve seats and maybe oversize valves if they need replacing, extractors and a 1 1/2" SU with bigger needle/jet. Any thoughts on this? Graham valve seats good = unleaded fuel |

Any thoughts on this? Graham valve seats good = unleaded fuel dont bother with the port-polishing. get a *good* exhaust system; i like the RC-40 with a maniflow manifold (headers in US?) use the smallest bore system you can find, if its a stanndard head/cam/valve size you will need a separate intake manifold. finish it with a diffrent needle to make this modification work. have a look here: http://www.minispares.com/Product.aspx?pid=37334 keith |
