Has anyone seen or heard of a stainless tank for van/pickup. Just taken the tank off the new acquisition thinking that it was painted silver (thinking why would someone do that?) to find that it isn't painted, it isn't rusty and it polishes up. As you may imagine, I am bemused and about it all. It says "madein Canada" on it. Anyone heard of this before? The Muffin Man |

I just spoke to my mate at Mostly Minis here in Vancouver, and all the years he's been dealing with Minis he's never heard of a stainless tank. Whereabouts are you, Muffin Man? I am in Yorkshire in the UK. He said it could be possible that the metal was made in Canada, but the tank could have just been custom made from that sheet. Saying that would make sense cus we all know how bad van/pickup tanks are for getting tinworm - a previous owner may have had a rusty tank and got this posh jobbie made up so it never happens again. The car has been sat outside a mates farm for a week and a half and there is no rust on it whatsoever and no paint whatsoever. Until last week we were in torrential downpours and even if the tank had been polished to burger-ey it would have rusted by now - even surface rust. The pickup bed on the other car I have shows surface rust where there were some patches welded a couple of weeks ago. When you polish it with just a t-shirt (that you're wearing it shineslike a shiny thing. I don't understand it. Thanks for your help The Muffin Man |

Just out of interest, is exact copy of a standard tank? If not then perhaps its off a different vehicle and modded for a mini.
