Hi all, I just bought a complete 998 engine with twin SU carbs for only 65 pounds (100 euros). I basically got it because the parts could come in handy. It seems in good condition, the code is 99H833R, can anyone tell me what engine it is? the guy said it was a cooper but I don't really trust him. The exhaust manifold is obviously not an lcb but looks bigger and is a better shape (no 90° turns) than my 998 mayfair original manifold. Any clues? |

the guy said it was a cooper but I don't really trust him. Any clues? Take the rocker cover off and have a look at the part no cast in - should be 12G295 on a 998 Cooper head. Taking the head off, the pistons will be flat top rather than dished. Shaun. |

The number doesn't match anything I have listed for the Cooper. Because engine numbers are often hard to read I will mention that there is an A+ 998 with the prefix 99H/B83P . It's possible that the engine is from a Hornet or Elf or even from a 998 Metro but I don't have numbers for those.
