Metro seats generally need a special subframe to allow them to be
bolted to the Mini's cross-member.

can easily be homemade:

The Metro seat rails look very similar to my Rover coupé items your
mounting method is quite neat.

Late model Mini seats are based on metro designs but have the Mini base
so can be fitted to any Mini, they can be sourced at most mini
specialists second hand and are cheaper than new sports buckets plus
subframes....

Would Metro seats be any good?

Seats from a late model scrapped mini will fit right in without the
need for a seat subframe at extra cost.....
