I just despise *everything* about her, from the dykey haircut to the

Oh it's a close run thing between her, Michelle Newman and Annabelle
Giles. Each of them extremely irritating in their own way. Michelle
Newman is a Jaeger-wearing clone of every can't drive for toffee
housewife in Surrey. The omnipresent red jacket, gold neck chain and
black alice band scream out "avoid like the plague, owns a BMW X5,
can't drive it". Annabelle Giles, thankfully seems to have given up
doing TV
at least in these parts. Her strangled Sloaney accent and her
irrepressible belief that she is top totty (no she's bottom shelf
scrotty) really did induce projectile vomitting.
Heh, I suspect you'll be amused to learn she's a Scouser then.

IIRC, she grew up in Haymans Green, West Derby, Liverpool 12.

I never saw the appeal of Vicki meself.

Me neither, every time I see her I tend to think "crack whore".
That's the appeal!

For the past few seasons of this i've watched the first episode and
nowt else - mostly because they do that 'more later in the show' crap
and seem unable to show a article all in the one go .

But also because the 5th gear show tells the viewer little about cars
and a lot of the time its tiff and vicky belting round a racetrack in
a porsche / bmw or whatever .

Doesnt it ever get boring for you lot ? .

Every time a motoring programme is on telly, there's a stream of posts
like
this one.

The traditionalists who want William Woolard back, foot on bumper,
explaining how the carb works on a Fiat Strada
The Clarkson haters who rant about Top Gear being a "Chat Show"
The Clarkson lovers who rant on about the "little bloke" and the "bloke
with
the hair".
The nostalgics who want Top Gear to go back to the old format, but
complain
about 5th Gear - which IS the old Top Gear format, near enough.
The confused people who "like cars" but would rather have a consumer
programme.
The people who want an entertaining programme all about dull as dishwater
cars like the Citroen Xsara.

Personally, I think Top Gear is pretty much perfect now. I like the silly
stunts and the obliteration of caravans. I like the stories about buying
Porsches for £1500 and trying to kill the Toyota pick-up, I like the "star
in a reasonably priced car", I like the test track stuff with the Stig and
I'm amused when they rip into manufacturers for making rubbish cars.

Fifth gear is still good, but it's a different programme. I'll sit there
and
watch Vicki thrash the pants off something just cos, well, she's
*dirty*...
Tiff is an excellent driver, and Quentin is great.

What's to complain about?

I like Vicki she reminds me of my Wife - and my wife the community midwife
does drive the ultra fast 2.8V6 Audi 80 front wheel drive - a car with
almost untamable 197bhp driving those front wheels.

I drive a VW caravanette!!

The joy of rear axle clunk and 2nd gear synchro drop out -- the hinges drop
on those big doors as well , I knew a bloke with a dodgy sill repair - jack
up with the door open and it flexed!!

Ah, mine's fine. Not a sign of clunk, synchro problems, or droopy doors.

It has only done 82000, careful miles though (apart from me forgetting to
change the cambelt)

Whooof.. that generated a bit of a response....

I was just thinking as I watched it that actually I do have a bit of respect
for 5th gear. I mean, for starters they get proper drivers presenting -
Plato, Tiff and VBH all have proper racing careers behind them (or in
Plato's case, ongoing) - rather than journos-turned-drivers. I mean,
watching Plato and Tiff racing a Boxster and a Z4 round a track, obviously
having a great time, is quite appealing, to be honest.

As for VBH, I'm a fan. But each to their own.

To be honest, my major complaint is that it's just fluff, to be honest. Not
much about cars (porsche boxster tonight, that was it) and kind of
lightweight assessments of the cars they do feature. But it's watchable, and
the presenters are easier to watch than Clarkson.

Just my 2p - can't think how to finish this post now
Cheers
Nick

Well, whatever car show you like is up to you. I agree about certain points
eg. VBH, but I just like the way JC can come out with comments like "the
best thing about the Vectra is the thing in the fuel cap that lets you undo
the dust caps without getting your hands dirty."

A girl with a dirty laugh and a reasonable arse, who likes cars,
drives like a psychopath, and rates the Integrale as one of the best
cars ever. Plenty of appeal there :-)
No, what you want is a girl with a dirty mind who doesn't give a fuck what
car you buy. Can you imagine the fucking "I told you so"s when you buy
something shit ?

Hmm, it doesn't seem to have been on for ages. Does anyone know for
certain if it has been cancelled? TIA
Since Plato is now at 5th Gear!

Anyway first two series were good, the last couple were terrible
