Default Anybody know anything about electric windows. - 12-06-2004 , 12:44 PM

Other than they go up and down, of course.

I've finally worked up some enthusiasm for sorting out my shite old Audi and
next on my list (now that I've replaced some dead bulbs, fitted new plugs
and leads and got the fag lighters working) is two slow electric windows.

Both windows on the N/S of the car wind down very, very slowly indeed and
stop going down before they've reached the bottom of their travel (both wind
down about 2 inches).

They wind back up at full speed, which suggests that the motor isn't
knackered ... which is very good, because I'd have to remortage the house to
get two Audi window motors. So, anybody got any idea what the problem is
likely to be before I start pulling the doors apart?

They're broken.

HTH

Hmm, it could be any one of a number of things, in all seriousness.

Do you know if they've got cable operated mechs, or are they on a gear style
set up?

Try spraying the window tracks with Holts Rubber & Nylon Lubricant
(available from Halfords). This will help A LOT.
