They're taking the piss ;-) You can spec Leons up to that money now. Sure. And a diesel A3 can be £24k BEFORE any options... Go tick-happy in the options, and you can get it to reach £35k, according to Audi's rather entertaining "car configurator"... £25,275 ROTR for the 170PS Sportline Quattro. I managed to get it up to £36,905 with all the boxes ticked. £37k for an Audi A3!!! Although the DVD Satnav and teletext Telly put nearly three grand on alone... Hmm, looking at the Vauxhall website you can make a Corsa go well over |

We're looking at some 2.0L used Audi A3s. Anything in particular to look out for? PeteM used to work in car rental. All the FSI Golfs they had went wrong. An A3 is basically a golf in fancy clothes. But other than that I'm sure they're fine. I'm pretty sure that not every FSi Golf/A3 goes wrong though... Didn't they have some issue with FSi's not liking UK fuel or sommat? |

Didn't they have some issue with FSi's not liking UK fuel or sommat? I think the FSI engines prefer the higher octane fuel. If you are a tight arse and put "cheap" petrol in, the engine will not work in FSI mode as long as it would with a tank of good stuff. |

They are terribly gutless things no matter what fuel you put in them however. Chris -- Remove prejudice to reply. Unless you get one of the "T" models. |

Just got an A classs to 34325 - looked at a C coupe in December that had comand, bose, disigno, auto, panaoramic roof etc - very nicely done but the value of the car was significantly less than that of the options... |

It's too easy with Merc, though. OK... I think we have a challenge forming... Let's see the highest *ratio* of options to base list price through a manufacturer's car configurator. |

OK so the Mercedes A class was a start - 12765 options 21560 base price (2.0 turbo), 34325 total = 60%. In fact if you add the same options to a base spec it's worse, as the base A150 3dr is 13770, and you can add more options to it (the turbo has AMG wheels as standard) making 14915 of options, total 28685, 108% of the list price spent in options. |
