Also, Corolla 1.6 auto, 60 in what about 13 or 14 seconds? Dude, my car is slow, and will do 0-60-0 quicker than that. |

Jag, BMW, Merc. There's no point pissing about with a small car if you're not doing a lot of mileage, because the fuel savings are fuck all in the scheme of things. Get something comfy and trundle around in it... And they put proper autoboxes in that last a while. |

You have spelt Jesus incorrectly. |

Might be an idea looking at bigger cars - may be easier to get in and out of, also bigger cars handle auto boxes a lot better. Nedd something less than 4.3 metres long, I'm restricted by my driveway. |

The one thing that hasn't improved with modern engines is low rev torque - assuming size for size and normally aspirated. |

But like for like cars are heavier now too. |

"smiffy" <no (AT) way (DOT) com> wrote in message news:IhZYh.22$2i.2 (AT) newsfe4-gui (DOT) ntli.net... Hi, I am about to purchase my first car at the grand old age of 45 :-) Got £3,500 - £4,000 to spend. Looking for something compact, 1.6+, 5 door and MUST BE AUTOMATIC (due to a gammy left leg, using a clutch is too painful). I have only really been looking at 2 makes, the focus 1.6 (2000 - 2002) and a peugeot 206 (1.6 roland garros). Won't be doing to much in the way of mileage (weekends and every other day maybe). Could i get some opinions on the above cars, and possibly some recommendations for others to look at? Jag, BMW, Merc. You have quite obviously never driven anything even vaguely brisk. Automatic wise I have. Dave |
