I had a dirt cheap chinese no-name cigarette lighter powered FM transmitter (with display) that worked fine - no problems in my old fiesta (also with inbuilt ford unit). My partner had a vectra estate and found his ttransmitter (same model as mine) was just about on the limits of reception - possibly because his aerial was positioned at the back end of the car - a relatively long way from the transmitter compared to my fiesta where the aerial was above the windscreen. Sounds good then since the Fusion aerial is also in that position. Oh and these FM transmitters are legal now which is even better! I'm glad I didn't dream that. Seemed like a misapplied law all along really - good to see a bit of common sense. I know what you mean about the JVC MP3 systems I have one now in my car - it's great. Perhaps you could get a stereo professionally fitted?? I know there are fascias that fit ford dashes. It's something I might do if I had maybe a £600 top of the range unit but going to that length to install something which in all probability would now be worth £20 seems a bit extravagant. |

I think i'll give a transmitter idea a try and save the money for a higher capacity MP3 player instead. |
