Default Car probs - 12-16-2003 , 04:35 PM

I have two problems.

Firstly my car has just got back to me from the garage having had the brake
compensator valve replaced as it had packed in. Its a Renault 21 Savannah
estate (K). I was charged £90 for the part alone, does this sound about
right? as with labour VAT and an oil change it came to a total of £230.

Secondly and just my bloody luck I got the car back from the garage at 09.30
and by 5pm it was undriveable. It will not go into gear at all. When the
engine is off it will but when running it makes a grinding sound and wont
select any of the gears. My mate looked at it and said it was the plates as
the cable was ok. Is this an expensive job?

I know diddlysquat about cars so go easy on me

Many thanks Simon

Please excuse any spelling and such probs - had a drink..

This sounds like what I had when 2 finger plates snaped/sheared on my '90
Fiesta. I was difficult but with 'some' force or adequate gear-engine
rev-speed selections you are likely to call in the garage again. This is
from a novice frame of experience.

BTW this may be 100% innacurate and be something to do with the spinnythings
that move together and apart and sometimes move together at the same speed -
WHOAH! I'm ready for teletubbies now...

LOL

Take care all.
