Default Cat D on HPI register - Bad? - 02-14-2007 , 09:53 AM

I'm guessing that part-exing my car is going to be a no-no !!!!!

Must admit it was a shock to me too when I found out.

Whats the deal when it comes to selling this? Am I obliged to tell a
potential buyer about this?

To be honest, its not as if its dangerous or anything - I've been
driving it around for 2+ years without even knowing !!!!

To anyone who knows what Cat D means, (minimal damage etc) I wouldn't have
thaught it would be a major concern, providing any damage has been repaired
properly.
Mike.

The garage I was trying to part-ex to seems to have a problem with it.
I wouldnt be surprised if it wasnt another scam to give even less for
my part-ex mind !

Most garages wouldn't buy a car 'on the register'. It's not unusual.

If you bought it from a dealer, then you may have some come-back....
even if it's some time since you bought it.

Speak to your local Trading Standards / Citizens Advice.

I had trouble with the garage in question a month or so after the
sale. They did some repairs that turned out to be botched...

Anyway, they have now 'done a bunk' so no chance there...

Do all garages do a HPI check before taking a part-ex off you ???
