Default Corsa Life Boot - 01-23-2007 , 07:05 AM

The boot did not seem to be unlocking as part of the central locking -
I put this down to the cold and tried the key - heypresto, it opened,
but on closing again seemed to refuse to open. So I unlocked it with
the key and in the course of examining the car pushed the little latch
in the center of the upper boot panel.

Net result - the boot does not close properly and thus does not lock.

As far as I can tell the latch has not reset itself and now does not
catch on the metal pin that it is meant to click into. Can anyone
suggest a way to reset the latch without make taking it to a garage?
I'm now worried the wind will open my boot.

Stuart

Try spraying with WD40 and move the offending latch, to see if this
frees it up. Also, try using the key to unlock it, you never know...

As said, lots of WD40. My old Astra did that regularly.

Answer in two parts.

You can normally flick the centre latch over with a pen or screwdriver
but don't use your fingers. It moves fast and could catch you.

Secondly, you can isolate the boot from the central locking by removing
the key in the horizontal or vertical position (I forget which). I
suspect you did this once and put the boot into manual mode,

I amways recommend people never use the boot key - stick with the
remote control at all times.

Not familiar with the Corsa, but it sounds like you might have locked the
lock manually, with the boot open, when you pushed the latch.
If that is the case, the boot wont close and latch. Turning the key in the
lock should open it, and allow the boot to shut in the normal way.
Mike.

Turning the key will unlock it, but you need to insert a screwdriver in the
hole where the pin would normally be when it's in the locked position, and
with the key turned, pull the screwdriver out, not the way you put it in,
but put your fingers round the screwdriver either side of the lock and pull,
this should release the latch.
