Cruise control on Seat Toledo mk II (and other VAG cars) -

Hi,
I'm having trouble with the cruise control on my Seat Toledo mk II and
wondered if anybody could give an opinion. Presumably all Golf mk IV
platform cars will have exactly the same cruise control, so I'd imagine
feedback from a Golf or A3 owner would be equally valid.
The trouble is, the 'set' button works fine to set the initial speed, but
when it comes to slowing down, has to be pushed really hard. The only way
to make it register is to push dead center, with enough force that the
on/off switch on top actually gets forced back a few mm. When driving
along, I would've expected the cruise control to work with a light push and
not require a lot of man-handling - as it is, it's rather hit and miss
whether I actually manage to slow down and I usually end up turning the
stupid thing off and then back on again.
To me, this feels like a dodgy contact; however, my local Seat dealer
insists the button is fine and refuses to fix it under the Seat-used
warranty "unless it generates a fault code" (which, since it's dodgy, rather
than broken, it never will).
My question to anyone with a VAG cruise control stalk is: does this sound
broken or are the controls just generally not particularly good?
Cheers,
Dave |
