Default Doesn't stir my soul - Clio - 04-26-2007 , 03:54 PM

Previously posted under 'Mileage checking'

Had my 1.2 Dynamique nearly a week, and well, see the Subject.

I needed a car to replace my trusty Pug 206 1.4 which some bleeder wrote
off for me in Nov.

Can't decide if I'm going mad, expecting a car to do more than get me from
A to B safely, but it just doesn't excite.

It's safer, more refined, more economical, much easier to drive, pulls
well at low speeds. So why don't I like it better than my old car ? On the
other hand, the ride is very unforgiving, it doesn't reward the driver,
the gear lever vibrates, and there are noises (not necessarily rattles)
from the sunroof.

Is the problem me, should I just get on with life, or is there a problem
with modern cars.

It's French FFS! They do that.

Paul S (anybody (AT) anyone (DOT) plus.com) gurgled happily, sounding much like

Of course it doesn't,

It's a small economical shopping-trolley hatchback.

Could be a Clio, a Corsa, a Polo, a whatever. It's a small boring bland
identikit hatch. You need to check the steering wheel to see what marque it
is.

Mmmm. Because a 1.2 Fiesta or Corsa is *so* thrillingly different...

I know I'd rather a 1.25 Fiesta. It's a hoot to drive, the 1.4 even more so.
For a small garden hatch, anyway.

Seconded - I take the 1.25 Fiesta out as preference over the other car any
time I can, it's very rewarding to drive, if you drive it well.

I've been thinking of;

MR2 Mk1
Ibiza GTI 8v (the torquey 115bhp Golf engine)
Bravo 1.2 16v
Focus 1.6/1.8
