Best Alfa I've driven in a long time.................

Pitty it won't last a long time!

I hope you didn't wear out your braincell typing that.

No brains cell required

Oh I don't know, he probably needed at least one to connect the twitch
reflex from 'Alfa' to typing a predictable one liner with a schoolboy
spelling error.

As to Alfas unreliability. I've owned them before, they have been shite.
And as hire cars as recently as the 156 they were poor. This one felt
much better than the others.
But can you tell by "feel" whether the central locking or electric windows
are going to go t*ts up after a couple of years? Indeed, can you tell by
"feel" any aspect of future reliability?

Sure, in general good "feel" = good build quality but then Alfa are past
masters of concealing faults at the time of purchase. ;-)

I would like another Alfa, but just for fun, not for reliable transport.

Tim

Which one ? 147, GT, 159 etc

Oh dang forgot to type the number, 147.

Oh cool, same as my old one. It was was by a long way far more
reliable than my Octavia. Who'd have thought that!

Not keen on the facelift ones though, the seats are horrible.
I found them less horrible than the other cars listed, particularly the
Altea, words don't exist for how vile that car is. The only irritation
on the 147 was the tailgate. No handle, no key, remote opening only
which didn't work in cities because cell phone and hospital radio
transmitters swamped the signal. Also after driving on a dusty road, it
was a filthy job getting the tailgate open.

On the newer ones the seat seems to sit much higher, and you can't
adjust the lumber support. The earlier seats were better imo.

Same on any flatbacked hatch really. I believe on the older 147's you
could spin the badge around and use a key as well.

I really liked my 147 mjet (esp in 180 bhp trim!) It was starting to
feel a bit tired though even though it was only 3 years old.
