There is not one day goes past but I dont get someone entering a roundabout
on my left
..when they maybe should not have but I am an experienced driver and I can
deal with it.
I dont need to honk my horn at every opportunity.Im not suggesting you do.I
would not dream of it!!

I am also of the opinion that the roolz still say ..give
way to vehicles who are already on the roundabout ( unles that has

Funnily enough, it has!

Don't know why that sent all i did was press enter.

It also says "watch out for vehicles already on the roundabout; be aware
they may not be signalling correctly or at all" so if she entered the round
about even with the vehicle travelling at high speed coming from the right
but not yet on the round about, and hit her would be a nice grey area and
would require witnesses.

Yes, but you asked if it had changed. It has!

It used to only say "Give way to vehicles already on the roundabout". That
meant that if you could get your front wheels over the give way lines
before the vehicle on your right, then you had right of way.

This was clearly ambiguous at best, and hence the change.

The way it is written now means that if you enter a roundabout and collide
with someone already on it, your chances of saying it wasn't your fault are
fairly slim!

Fucking cheek.

A woman honked at me the other day; I was turning left out of a
T-junction and the road has a small sliproad to it. I pulled into the
sliproad and she thought I was coming out.

So perfectly correct use of the horn then?

Ditto to R D S - How does he know you've seen him? It's in his interests
to assume that you're the worst kind of numpty on the roads, not the
driving god you obviously are. So where's the cheek in his action?

clive

There was arm waving as well.
I have over half his age in NCB.

So what? Who cares that you've driven for thirty years man and boy.

I watched a video of a lady rolling her car on a petrol forecourt. She had
thirty years of no claims bonus I'm sure.

Iridium (iridiumdan (AT) googlemail (DOT) com) gurgled happily, sounding much like
they were saying :

Has anyone noticed that it is usually someone who looks like he has
just passed his test who honks at other drivers who have the cheek to
enter roundabouts when they are entering at 100mph on the right.

I don't get it? Do you mean people that have to cheek to beep at
people who pull out on them?

I think that's exactly what he means.

The gross exaggeration of "100mph" is mere bluster to try and cover being
caught not actually looking properly before pulling out.

I suspected at much "They were going too fast, but I still pulled out cos
I think I was in the right."

I'm glad I don't do that sort of thing. *cough*

I am taking it that the "100mph" is an exaggeration .
Surely if you are waiting to enter a roundabout then you do so when it is
safe
to do so and that means juding the speed of visible vehcles already on
the
r/bout . I am also of the opinion that the roolz still say ..give way to
vehicles who are already on the roundabout ( unles that has changed ).

One particular roundabout I have in mind is at one entry ,vehicles
entering on the right cannot be seen until they are almost at the line and
one has to move out hoping that people are driving at a reasonable speed.
This is backwards thinking, really. You see somebody, you think, "oh they
can stop" or "they're not going fast" so you pull out... just to check?!

I just think that all drivers should approach roundabouts with a certain
amount of caution, obviously some dont agree with that view!!
You can think that all you like. I think the same, apart from me, since
roundabouts are designed for some sideways action along the polished
surface.

But what happens in practice, you might want to reappraise every situation
in the belief that some mad loon in a Ka, Cinquecento or similarly low
powered machine will be gung-ho over the roundabout trying to get the car
sideways.

In short, no. If you want to fit a stereotype, try the bunch of German
diesel car driving, middle aged people (of which I'm rapidly becoming). Or
old people too busy chatting to Mavis about the price of tomatoes in ASDA
having crept up over the last fortnight, or... you get the picture?
