Default Merc C200...is this a reasonable price? - 01-22-2004 , 06:15 AM

Hello group,

I'm having a look at a Merc C200 Elegance today, 130k miles on the
clock, S reg, for £5340.

I'm just wondering if anybody might happen to know if this is too
cheap for that model with that milleage. The way I figured it, as long
as it was in good mechanical condition the milleage didn't really
matter, but I'm wondering if there may be something else wrong with
it. Also is there anything particular that I should be looking for??

Thanks!
Marc

That's probably about right, possibly it should be a bit cheaper.

Whatever the seller says, it's not easy selling any car with 130k on the
clock so don't be afraid to bargain.

Doesn't anybody check prices against Parkers, Glass's, or even equivalent
cars in Autotrader?
Yes, _*"they"*_ do. And I figured before shelling out 5k I'd actually
ask peoples' opinion as well rather than blindly believing anything I
read ... (the "Also is there anything particular that I should be
looking for??" being the pertinent bit to that one), you have a
problem with that?

I kindly suggest you don't read threads that offend you, it was
perfectly clear from the subject what I was asking for...

Thanks. I haggled the guy down by a glorious £75 (after part ex'ing my
Civic there wasn't really a lot left to negotiate about!).

The car sort of spoke for itself after test driving it, an amazing
engine.

Well if there's a PX involved, the Merc is nice and you're happy with the
overall deal, I'd say you did well.

I think a deciding factor in deciding to buy it was seeing *the star*
ahead of me while test driving ... :-) Seriously though, I know
there's always a risk involved when buying a used car, but the way I
figure it, if it turns out to be a lemon, at least I ain't lost a lot
of money on it.

It's amazing the sense of security that gives you!
