Default Micra 1.2 economy, practicality, hot-hatch go? - 05-15-2007 , 06:55 AM

All, looking for ideas to replace 1.2 Micra. It's a current-shape, great
feautres etc. but too damn docile for us both to drive.

Misses does 60 miles a day in it, and can't afford much more in fuel. It
needs to be a decent-sized hatch - the Micra's slidey back-seats make it
surprisingly practicle. She absolutely loves key-less entry and a/c.

I struggle to think of a thrustier, quieter motor with equal economy and
individuality? That kind of puts out the Fiesta/Skoda diesel types for
her...

Cheers

I've been running around in a Suzuki Swift 1.5 for the last 18 months,
and both that and the 1.3 are nippy little motors, quite fuel
efficient and have fully collapsing back seats.

The 1.5 has complete keyless entry and startup (keep keys in your bag)
and I can comfortably do 400 miles on a tank (£40)

If you want all the toys, then the 1.5 is the one to go for - 5 doors,
keyless entry, air con, EPS, etc etc.

Only downside is the dealer network, they are rubbish!

Spooks

For economy, try the 100bhp 1.5dci Renault Megane, to replace your Micra
with a similar but cheaper to run/buy car, try the Daihatsu Sirion. (2005
on)

Both cracking cars, plenty of room, etc. Megane is a bit pricy, though....

And about twice the size, three times the weight, etc..

The Ibiza FR TDi? The problem being it's on it's way out early next year
(like the old Fabia was this year and there isn't a new Fabia VRs yet).
Plenty of poke if you get it remapped and a good 50+mpg.

I think it looks ideal, but the Misses isn't impressed by the fatuous
Ronaldo connection...
