I have noticed that the clutch in my car near the end of its life.

I would like to prepare my finances and have a reference to not to overpay.

Could you please let me know how much should it cost to fit a new one in a
non expensive garage?

The car is: Peugeot 406 hdi 110bhp 2003

I live in Cambridgeshire. hmm so ~£500 yes, it does seem pretty much however
I was expecting even more!

I am a little surprised that the kit costs £150 I was expecting to pay more
for it then for the labour.

Is the price for a new one of used one?

I suspect the clutch is wearing out because I can feel that it slips in 2nd
and 3rd gear while accelerating up the hill with 4 people on board.

The mileage is 97k miles.

The car has the engine control unit changed; the measured torque and bhp are
335 and 135 respectively (previously measured: 275 and 110).

Perhaps this extra torque causes it? However I think I read/heard somewhere
that clutches usually need replacing at aprox 100k miles.

Yes, that's reasonable. It's a relatively high mileage for a three year old
