We got up this morning to find a fixed penalty notice attached to our car, which was correctly parked outside our house and it was issued at 4.15AM. It says "Offence code 400" Then handwritten "VRM - fail to comply regs" anyone any ideas what on earth it's for? http://www.psni.police.uk/index/depa...fencecodes.htm |

I'd think it was, none of my plates have manufacturer details and they were made before the requirement to have such details surfaced. I thin the conversation in the shop was "if you put your fucking telephone number on those plates, you can bloody well pay me for the advertising." |

This document: http://www.dvla.gov.uk/media/pdf/leaflets/v796.pdf Mentions that the British Standard requires manufacturers details to be shown on the plate, but there's nothing in the other documents to say that a plate fitted to a vehicle must meet the British Standard. Simply a set of requirements for the font. And note that plates fitted before 2001, as mine were, can be to a different standard. |
