True - but it's a fact of life that you'll have to give in and buy FWD
these days :-(

They are. Early quad-cam Turbos are well under £2k for a decent runner
these days :-)

FWD again.

What about big French stuff like the Peugeot 605&607, Citroen XM,
Renault Safrane? All very big, very comfortable and very cheap.

Oh and Also the Pug 607, but more importantly the Renault Vel Satis, which
is tipped to depreciate like a monster, faster than any other car in its
price bracket.

Overall the Honda Legend is probably best bet, as it is almost certainly
better built than any Merc or BWM

Incidentally the Honda Insight is only worth 17% of its original value after
3 years, according to car magazine, but I have yet to find an example of
this.

Unfortunately the Hyundai XG30 has been deleted from the range, and I don't
thing Daewoo's are offering any big cars for the UK now
My mistake. It's a Kia Magentis.

Which is the same car as the Hyundai XG - and it's still imported
according to the Hyundai site.

Will a 5 series depreciate enough to be purchasable?
Which 5 Series? You can get E34s for under a grand.

5 Y/O Omegas can be picked up for about £4000, what else can you get in
the
same market place?

How about a Mondeo 2.5V6 Ghia X? In my opinion one of the best value s/h
buys

Or, equally similar, a Vectra 2.5 CD. There is an X reg one, 40k miles local
to me for sale- £4200. Now that has to be a bargain!

Tim..

No thanks I hate FWD - cannot get on with it.

My Omega does handle nicely, comfortable ride, plenty of room for kids, and
tows well.

FWD does not tow as well and suffers from strange behaviour due to the same
end sharing steering and drive.
