For a month or two I've been snikering to myself when I've seen a
Corsa that says "twinport" on the back, since 'obviously', it just
means two door and it's designed to sound cool to the kids. Then I saw
a five door one and then again today, on an Astra. So I guess that's
not what it means. I feel such a fool... heh.

It's an engine design to save fuel.

And if it works as well as their so called "Ecotech" then it's fuel
consumption will be shocking.

Ecotec was just an engine design...

It's a Vauxhall, so it's not in the least bit important.

It's some sort of flap in the inlet system that closes up a valve at
slow idle.

I don't know how much good it does but the badges annoy me too!

16v head, but 8 runners in the intake manifold. a set of 4 butterflies under
ECU control one per pot. At low speed butterflies shut so the engine is
effectively an 8 valver. Good torque and a clean burn.

Over certain speed butterflies open and it sorta behaves like a peaky
16valver, only it doesnt cos the valves are stupidly small and they dont
breath particularly well even then.

Reasonable power output for the size though.

The intake ports are separated? have you got a link to a photo of the head
or something?

So the same technology as a mk1 MR2. But 20+ years late!

Sort of, but TVIS had a different objective.
