Job occupation ?? Mum's age vs ur Dad's age ?

My dad's a manager, his mum is a part-time accountant/housewife I believe.
She would use car more than my dad.

Ages basically the same.

earth did he manage to get that quote. So I decidedly phoned Tesco since
they have a contract with him and it couldnt affect him. Naturally they wont
speak to me about his policy so I spoke to a manager and said ok look I am
his friend you cant discuss his details with me but you can look at them on
your screen. Now look at his details, these are mine. What on earth is going
on here! He said the only reasons they could give me for £800 difference
were a) I live 20 minutes away (but I live in what is an equally 'safe'
area), or b) that they have bugs in their system. Gee i'd love to find one
of those bugs!

Any comments,
The car is a different make - a Corsa is owner by many more 18 year
olds than a Punto. Parts could be more expensive too. A Punto is not a
trendy car to own.

I don't know how finely the "risk" is calucated by area, but if it is
x-referenced against claims, rather than a shaded map type system then
the area could make a BIG difference. Have you tried getting a quote
for your details against his address? How about his car at your
address?

This should narrow it down, but either way IF the NCD which is built
up on the policy can be transferred, the Punto looks like a storming
deal - sell the Corsa and get one!

I have to say i am surprised at that comment. In all the areas I have driven
I have seen so may more 18 year olds with new and old style puntos but very
few with my car the new style Corsa C. The punto seems to be a more trendy
car to own.

lol I'd never touch a FIAT.. i still go by the old phrase - "fix it again
tony". Don't like the puntos at all i'm afraid.

They are evil little vehicles (using the term "vehicle" very loosely). I had
the misfortune of getting one on hire once. I can honestly say it was the
worst car ever to drive, even worse than a 10year old mk2 cav with 140k. The
only advantage it might have had over the cav was less rust.

I personally don't like corsa's very much but it is a much better car than
any fiat. Keep it!

Put your Mum as main driver instead of your Dad, and go for fully
comperehensive.

Women drivers always get it cheaper.

I looked at a cherokee [my present vehicle] 4 litre highoutput
and a nissan 200sx, my girlfiend had had her license only 12 months
at the time.

I was insuring as main driver, but including her as 2nd driver reduced the
cherokee
£180, and the nissan over £200.

Having had an accident recently, caused by a woman driver. I think I'll
be changing the girlfriend to main driver to save some cash.

An example...

My friend just signed up with Tesco Car Insurance. Terms:
His mum main driver, him second driver on policy
His age 18, no claims
Car Insurance Band 3 on a Punto 1.2 02 reg
10,000 miles per year
Fully comprehensive
Non existant NCB
I checked his policy details and he really wasnt lying
£400!

I try the same thing however...
I live around 20 minutes from him
My father with a perfect history would be the main driver but again no NCB
on this car
Me 18 as second driver no claims
8,000 miles per year
Same value of car but 1.0 Y reg Corsa Car Insurance Band 1
Fully Comprehensive... wait for it.. £1200.

Ok this is the average price I got from loads of other insurers but how on

P.S. I am currently with CIS car insurance £850 3rdPFT with a policy as my
father as main driver and any licensed driver any age can drive the car..
not a bad policy but really the cheapest I could get so suits me fine.
Oh and no im not "fronting" he is the main driver
