Remember when the Jaguar designers foiled the British Leyland management by making the XJ engine compartment too narrow to fit a Rover V8? |

You have the attention span of a goldfish. Try reading more than the first sentence of a post and don't quote out of context. For anyone else, the point was that an X-Type is a Mondeo. |

Remember that most MG's were rebadged BLMC -> BL saloons. |

The X-type is mechanically a Mondeo in the same was that the DB7 was an XJS XK8, but... The DB7 was also based on the oily bits of the XJS |

It could have been a lot better - Mondeo is a good car can't understand how the X type ended up being so disappointing. |

Remember when the Jaguar designers foiled the British Leyland management by making the XJ engine compartment too narrow to fit a Rover V8? Did they? Having seen the Jag V12 and V8, and the Rover V8 up close, the Rover seems smaller. |

Tim S Kemp (news (AT) timkemp (DOT) karoo.co.uk) gurgled happily, sounding much like they were saying : It could have been a lot better - Mondeo is a good car can't understand how the X type ended up being so disappointing. Because the Mundane is a good car for a Ford but the X is a poor car for a Jag? |

Eiron (e1ron (AT) hotmail (DOT) com) gurgled happily, sounding much like they were saying : But Jag hasn't released a FWD diesel. Umm, yes, they have. The X-type diseasel is FWD, not 4wd - that's only the v6 2.5 and 3.0 |

The DB7 was also based on the oily bits of the XJS Which bits? And why on earth would they do that, when the XJS was an ancient dinosaur at it's (much too late) death in '96, three years before the DB7 launch (which followed the XK8 launch)? I'm not saying it's utterly impossible, just completely unlikely... |
