True, but the Ital was the Marina shell with a bit of polyfilla.

Actually, that's a horrendous slur on the Morry Minor, which was a
very advanced vehicle when launched. What BL did with the Marina was
to go back to agricultural crap such as leaf springs, on a design
supposedly thirty years more 'advanced', to save a couple of bob on
build costs. Shame they also removed all trace of quality control.
It was produced alongside the 1100 series (ADO15?) - which was at one time
the best selling car in the UK - and arguably rightly so.

My niece has two ;-)

Problem was the fleet market were suspicious of FWD designs, and
preferred the Cortina, etc. So BL decided to make a 'conventional' car for
the fleet market. And had some success there. With possibly the worst car
they ever made. The only Marina I thought worthy in some ways was the 1800
auto - which was quite lively for a 'small' auto in the days when most
were snails.

???
I've owned several XMs, the tank capacity was only 80 litres.
My current CX has only 60 litres, good for about 500 km ;-(

It's a tarted-over Marina, ffs.

My dad had had two 1100s and was looking to upgrade - he tried a Marina
and a Maxi and it was no contest. I were only a lad but even I realised
the Maxi was a lot roomier and more comfortable in the back seat.

Nominally 85 litres, but it will happily take more. Either that or every
filling station lies to me. 85 is just after the light comes on, and that's
still 50 mile range.

Hmmmmm, no-one seemed surprised when I put ~£75 worth into my 740i... :|

E39 only takes £65 of premium from reserve.

I had a Maxi - marvelous car it was. Helped a lot by the fact that mine was end
of line rather than the original which I gather had dodgy gearchange, dodgy
suspension, etc.
