‹(•¿•)› BORG (Borg (AT) Deadspam (DOT) com) gurgled happily, sounding much like they
were saying :

Not interested in the fashion police side of things
Does anything else *matter*?

No, I don't. Else I'd have given a thorough answer.

My point, however, remains. Nobody but a tasteless git would even *care*
whether they were legal or not, as they are possible the naffest piece of
tat since those stick-on mooning blokes.

Take it you can't read either then, or at least not read the bit where
I said I'm not interested in anyones fashion police answers just the
law.

display a blue flashing light it's OK to use them.

Not interested in the fashion police side of things just the legality
of them.
They aren't legal. Except for a couple of exceptions a light on a
vehicle cannot physically move. Also it might be regarded as an
optional side marker light and they must be amber.

wrong

Road Vehicles Lighting Regulations 1989. It is worth expanding on some
of these regulations:
Regulation 12 would be the most likely one:

ctor

'being moved' is a bit vague, but the exception for reflectors in bike
wheels implies that other lights or reflectors on wheels are illegal.

(2) Paragraph (1) does not apply in respect of-

(c) a lamp or reflector which can be deflected to the side by
the movement of, although not necessarily through the same angle as,
the front wheel or wheels of the vehicle when turned for the purpose
of steering the vehicle;
That would allow LEDs in the centre of the hub on front wheels.

The fact that (i) further down specifically mentions reflectors
in bike wheels implies that (c) above does not cover them,
nor lights which are attached to and rotate with the wheels.

Although this bit confuses me.

Lamps to show a steady light
13.-(1) Save as provided in paragraph (2), no vehicle shall be
fitted with a lamp which automatically emits a flashing light.

(2) Paragraph (1) does not apply in respect of-

(e) a green warning lamp used as an anti-lock brake indicator;
I suppose it means even internal lights must be steady.

Also if the car/trike is registered as disabled transport with the
DVLA would that class it as an invalid carriage ?
I think an invalid carriage has to be lightweight and slow.
