In article <4ee506ca34dave (AT) davenoise (DOT) co.uk>, Dave Plowman (News)
says...

Quote:
For about 40,000 miles (if lucky) before needing a full engine re-build.
And probably a de-coke at half that. (If a sidevalve) And had dreadful
fuel consumption considering the dreadful performance. Oil changes every
3000 miles.

Give me modern fuel injected cars any day.

My thoughts exactly every day from around December to end of Feb.

Carbs and points are nice'n'simple from a maintenance POV but their
limitations are glaringly obvious.

Light travels faster than sound. This is why some people appear bright
until you hear them speak.........

yep, 4 or even two double choke webers have a delightful sound, never
matched by an injected lump.

The ones round here must be, or they would put reasonable hours in.

That probably sounds nice too.

At the moment I am revelling in the sound that the V8 with 4 twin choke
DCNF's makes, it sounds like a double lotus twin cam on 40's, really
grumbly, worth keeping the revs lowish just to hear it.

As for the Multipla
even the Italians don't like them, correction - a few taxi drivers do!
I wouldn't hesitate to get another Multipla when this one conks out.
It drives better than most cars I have been in and if your main qualm about
owning one is because it looks a bit funny then you have issues.
