"somebody else's problem" style attitudes to customer service. Though in
fairness, modern semi-synth and fully synthetic oils are bloody good, and
would even provide a very decent level of protection even if left in for the
full length of the standard service interval on cars used in so-called
"extreme" conditions, so as long as people get them serviced as per the
normal intervals, then you'd probably not notice the difference - you very
seldom hear of engine failure due to wear in this day and age, it's normally
other things going wrong that cause problems beyond economic repair (i.e.
cambelt failure due to knackered tensioner pulleys etc.)
