BBC enterprises (completely separate to the Beeb so we licence payers do not
benefit) make huge amounts of profit from international sales BUT as the
Beeb is a believer in green issues, global warming who knows?

On the other hand if C;arksons contract is up for renewal ? hardball

Hammonds doubled from 1million to 2million

I would be happy never to see that prat Clarkson again. Why can't
the Beeb show a programme about motoring which is more in tune with
the needs of the majority of motorists?

You do see the scorn poured on speed cameras and bus lanes, don't you?

Don't worry, they countered top gear by broadcasting a load of neo marxist
bull at 9pm every Sunday now...

I've been rather enjoying that and I'd hardly call it neo-Marxist.

And where do you think those profits go? Nor do they get the progs they
sell for free.

Depends if the BEEB can meet the greedy bastards financial demands.

I never cease to be amazed at how quickly the Clarkson haters get the boot
in!

Judging by reports that've been circulating on the 'net during the past week
or so, it looks more like it depends whether the Beeb will agree not to ruin
the show. Clarkson and co want an entertaining show about cars, the Beeb
wants more celebs, etc.

Cheers,
Dave

I wouldn't claim for a second that having a company within another is a
fiddle i.e profits from a prog. paid for by us (licence payers) does NOT go
back into the pot to either make or buy progs for our benefit but
............

Enterprises dates back from the days when the BEEB wasn't allowed to
indulge in any commercial activity directly.

Oh here we go, Mondeo man whants to see road tests of family cars and
people carriers. Yawn. No one *wants* a family car or a people carrier
they *have* to have one. But you don't have to sit and watch dull
boring programmes about them. Buy a copy of "What Car?" (read "Boring
Car?") magazine if you want information on how many MPG the new Ford
Boring does.
