Default Weekend Insurance - 02-11-2005 , 08:07 AM

Hi y'all,

I'm hoping to blag a 147GTA or 156GTA for a weekend 'test drive'. Due to
having a company car for the last eight years, I have no insurance policy of
my own. Does anyone know of a company that will insure me just for the
weekend?

Cheers

Dan

Surely the dealer's insurance covers it? - however, be prepared to sign
up for a *massive* excess.

Alternatively, take out an online, monthly policy, and cancel next week,
but be prepared to find that most companies won't quote as you don't
have any NCB.

Only if I've got one of their employess with me at the time. Problem is, you
never really 'drive' a car when the salesman is sat next to you do you?

That's a thought, but I don't really want to pay a huge amount of money just
to try a car out. I might ring SWMBO's insurance (who I'm a named driver
on), and see if they can help.

Any of the ones with a local branch.

Yeah, I'll give one or two a call I guess. I forgot that insurance companies
actually existed in the real world, and not just on th'internet....

A bit naughty but a company that offers a 14 day money back if you don't
crash policy.

Have a word with your boss or the company accountant and see if you can
arrange for the car to be loaned to the company rather than to you.
Most company policies cover unspecified cars 'on hire or loan to the
company' provided that the company doesn't actually own them. You'll
just need a copy of the certificate to show the dealer.

Unless you're shopping for a new car because you're planning to change
jobs and haven't told your boss yet <g>.
