Default What's the longest your car has been in the garage? - 03-03-2007 , 04:01 PM

Im not talking rebuilds but significant engine work[1], what is a length of
time where it is reasonable to consider that just about any job should have
been done by now.

And at what point is it acceptable to pull a freaky?

Is upsetting the mechanic a bit like telling the serving guy at Mc D's you
weren't happy last time, is it best to keep them sweet so they don't do the
mechanic equivalent of spitting in your burger?

[1] Car burning oil due to valve probs, gave up trying to fix it and is
replacing head, its into 6 weeks now.

i would have thought 1 week should be enough, go talk to the service manager
or the MD

Depends on how busy the engineering shop is. Then there's the
availability of the replacement head if it needs one.

4 and a bit months - plus another 2 months on and off - but that could
be because the garage were a bunch of cack handed wotsits!
