Default Daytona Testing on SPEED - 01-10-2007 , 09:00 PM

They said Junior left early, and Kerry Earnhardt took over testing the '8'.
They interviewed Kerry, and he said they call him 'Lamont' at DEI 'cause
he's always over there scrounging for parts! I had a good laugh on that, but
I couldn't believe that that generation knows anything about 'Sanford and
Son'. The reason he told the story was he though they gave him a
'second-hand engine' to test. Apparently he wasn't as fast as his brother.

Never underestimate TVLand and Nick at Nite....and some markets (Chicago,
for example) have acquired their own local equivalents--here, it's WWME or
"ME TV"---all reruns, all the time (including vintage commercials in that
case.

Means the young whippersnappers know more than you think they do.....I've
been parking my almost-two-year-old granddaughter in front of Burns & Allen
of late in the interest of quality comedy education.

Kerry is 38, I beleive, plenty old enough to have seen Sanford
& Son when it was in syndication.

That doesn't speak well for Kerry (assuming it's not taken totally
out of context). As a test driver, he should have known what was
being worked on, and what the team expected the car to do. If they're
going to do a series of back-to-back runs with different shocks, say,
there's no reason not to use an engine that's a little weak.
