From Jayski-
Jr. has an 11:00 AM press conference scheduled for Thursday. Rumor has it he
will announce that he and Truex, Jr. will be driving for JR Motorsports, in
the Nextel Cup Series, in 2008.

SPEED will go live to the press conference.

I have a feeling that I predicted this last year.

I'm not willing to go through all my posts so that
I can collect the accolades that I so richly deserve.

It will be interesting to see how well JRM does compared
to MWR. JRM will probably have Chevies, of course, so
it may not be a fair comparison at all.

And if you can believe what you read, those Chevies will have Hendrick
engines in them so I don't think he has to worry about any shortfall
in equipment quality.

I just have to wonder where Junior gets the idea that he can succeed
where Brett Bodine, Darrell Waltrip, Ricky Rudd and now Michael
Waltrip have failed. History seems to indicate that being an owner-
driver at the Cup level is not a winning proposition. I wish him
success. I'm just not sure he's going to find as much of it as he
would like.

Yup.

It's conceivable that this is just an interim solution.

Seems to me that what he really wants is control of DEI.

Showing that he is serious about leaving if he can't gain
control may help in the negotiations.

Then again, maybe he likes the idea of being an owner-driver
and hopes that he can succeed where others have had less
success. Robby Gordon seems to be in business still (29th
in the standings).

Jr may figure that he can have as much fun as RG is and
be the best owner/driver in the series.

I wish him well wherever he ends up.

or RCR engines like his current Busch cars.

Or he may hire a real owner as GM and just drive and own in the background.

I Dont think the Owner-driver thing is a good idea. I can see him
going to RCR or maybe Gibbs. Remember Dale Sr didnt always drive for
RCR and ddint always drive a Chevy #3.

Sounds like Junior in a JRM Cup car in '08 is the *bottom* of their list.

Bidding is now open for Junior.

Truex and even Eury, Jr won't be coming along on his coattails.

No word on Bud as yet...but probable.

He won't be in the #8.

Would Jr be willing to go to RCR and drive the #3?

Or his own #8 (if he can take it with him from DEI)?
