Default Most Popular Driver - NO DOUBT ABOUT IT! - 05-16-2007 , 09:33 PM

I don't know if people are stupid or a lot of people that don't have any
8 stuff are buying some so they do have at least something of the 8
memories should the number/sponsor change. If it does change and he goes
on and wins cup(s) the 8 stuff will be practically worthless.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) - Sales of Dale Earnhardt Jr. merchandise has
skyrocketed 107 percent in the week since NASCAR's most popular driver
said he was leaving his late father's company at the end of the season....

....Earnhardt's selling power is tops in NASCAR, which does about $2
billion in annual retail sales. Dyer said Earnhardt owns between 25 and
30 percent of the market. Jeff Gordon, the No. 2 driver in sales, is "in
the mid-to-high teens," Dyer said.

Yeeeeehaaaaaaaaw!

I had no idea that Jr. did that well in sales.

Changing numbers and teams might be a boon to whoever
owns the concessions. All the 8 stuff becomes obsolete
and Jr.'s fans need all new stuff.

A couple of years ago it was said that
Dale Earnhardt Jr. AND Dale Earnhardt
sold more than all the others combined.

I'm sure that Sr.'s sales, while still strong, considering,
are not what they used to be, so that is probably not the
case any more. But still pretty remarkable.

I can see how affection for the father would
transfer to the son.

Jr comes across as a very likeable guy.

Easy to like, hard to dislike, an interesting
face, character, and family background.

A major alternative to the West Coast
champions.

The last redneck hero?

Does anyone begrudge him his success?

Would anyone be sad if he won a Cup?

I believe so. And not in a bad way.

Not at all.

Nope.

Funny thing is, I just have never warmed up to the kid.
I don't DIS like him, I don't REALLY like him.
If he wins, it's okay, if he doesn't... it's okay..
I can't believe how neutral, I really am on the MPD in NASCAR.
So many others, I have so much stronger feelings for, both ways.
But with him... it's just.... nothing there.
And I was a huge DE fan...
